Henley mayor proposes memorial garden for George Harrison

The mayor of Henley-on-Thames, where George Harrison lived for many years in Friar Park, has proposed that the city erect a garden in his honor, not a statue. The suggestion was made last month during a meeting last month of the recreation and amenities committee on Tuesday last week. “I would like to see a garden for George Harrison rather than a statue,” Lorraine Hiller said in the local paper. “This is something I would like to see realised.” The idea was first floated in 2001, the paper said.

McCartney "Tug of War" and "Pipes of Peace" reissues in Japan

Remember the days when Japanese releases had something added to them that others don't, like lyric books or UBIs. No evidence of that in these pictures, interestingly enough.

Japanese version of "Tug of War" Super Deluxe reissue (translated page says "Tag of War") Cost according to latest exchange rates: $125.12, which doesn't include mailing.

"Pipes of Peace" deluxe reissue in Japan. (Latest exchange rate conversion: ($89)

A golden oldie from 1965

Picked this up at Barnes & Noble the other day. It's not all Beatles, but it does have archival material from NME and Melody Maker. Apparently, this is a monthly magazine. Didn't see 1964, but would have loved to. (Thanks to Kris Tash.)
